He was born on Nov. 18, 1948, in Indiana, PA, to the late John Edward and Margaret Elizabeth Fleming Montgomery.
He was a Vietnam War veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal with 1 Overseas Bar, the Viet Nam Cross of Gallantry With Palm, and the Sharp Shooter Badge.
Survivors include four children: Nicole Marie Montgomery, Charlotte, NC; Jeffrey Montgomery, Rochester, NY; Patrick (Katie) Montgomery, Chester, SC; and Peter (Jan) Montgomery, Orlando, FL; and two brothers, Gary and Thomas Montgomery, New York.
Services will be held at a later time in New York.
