He was born on April 16, 1938 in Cleveland, Tennessee to Felix and Mildred Liner. He grew up in Riceville, Tennessee and later moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where he met Carolyn Jean Freeman. They fell in love, eloped and stayed happily married for 66 years (married November 22, 1958)!
Glenn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Glenn loved to travel with Carolyn. They traveled together to 43 of the 50 states and went several times to Hawaii and Las Vegas. As soon as he retired, they took a month-long trip out west together. They enjoyed frequent trips to the mountains and the beach in their early retirement years. As they entered their 80s, they enjoyed “keeping the road hot” around the Charlotte area together.
Glenn enjoyed keeping busy piddling around the house and was often found in the basement doing small projects like making bird houses out of popsicle sticks or tuning the lawn mower for maximum efficiency!
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Liner, his sons Glenn Howard Liner Junior (Cathy), James Daley Liner (Angela), his grandchildren Jackson Liner (Allison), Travis Liner (Rebecca), Lauren Martin (Jimmy), Matthew Liner, great grandchildren Tristan, Grayson, Stetson, Kimberlyn, Aniston, Maverick and Ashton. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ray Liner and Ralph Liner of Tennessee and Sister Joyce Trundle of Georgia. He is survived by his sister Barbara Sutherland, currently residing in Tennessee.
A memorial service will be held at McEwen Funeral Home on March 7th at 1:00 pm (receive friends) and 2:00 pm (Memorial Service). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, NC.
It is a comfort to know that he is now with Lord and his family looks forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven.
