Greg had a remarkable life. He was a gifted writer, composer, musician, and singer. He attended the Kansas City Conservatory of Music but cut short his education to play bass guitar in Chuck Berry's band. He also opened for Led Zeppelin when they played Kansas City on their first American tour, with his original band Bluesgarden. He spent the next 8 years touring the States with his band Dancing Machine. He then moved to Chicago where he worked briefly as a photographer.
He met his wife, Arriel, when he was in Charlotte where his parents lived. They married and moved to New York City in the early 80s to join a band playing his original material, where he sang and played guitar. Greg also headlined the Hong Kong Music Festival in 1987 with his original band, Thailand. Greg later went back to school to study computers. He worked at Time Warner Cable (now Spectrum) as a computer specialist, was promoted to supervisor, and eventually retired.
After many years in retirement, Greg re-joined the workforce as a Patient Care Coordinator for Atrium Health. Greg loved his job, his supervisors and co-workers. He found great satisfaction in being able to help others, where he showed great compassion and empathy.
Greg was a man of many talents. He was a wonderful cook who loved to make his own recipes. He was a voracious reader and student of the Bible, which he read daily. Greg had great faith in God and had found peace in his faith. Greg also had a great sense of humor and loved comedies, British shows and classic movies. Greg had an extensive knowledge of television, movies, actors, and music. His dream job would definitely have been as a host on Turner Classic! Above all, Greg had a soft spot in his heart for animals in need. He and his wife rescued many dogs and cats over the years, as well as a few birds. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family, but most of all by his beloved wife of 44 years, his many feline rescues, and his devoted rescue dog, Coda.
