Isabelle McCandless Hine

Isabelle McCandless Hine, 85, of Charlotte, NC, died peacefully Sunday evening, August 19, 2012 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC, leaving this earthly realm to enter the heavenly realm of the Father.

Her family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 25, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, with her memorial service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Bethabara Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC.

Born January 1, 1927 in Harrisville, PA, Mrs. Hine was the daughter of the late Paul Revere McCandless and Laura Wood McCandless. She studied Chemistry at Grove City College, PA and worked for E.I. DuPont in Wilmington, Delaware where she was proud to have helped with the development of polyester fiber and where she met her husband Paul. Isabelle also taught Special Education in Charlotte Mecklenburg schools for 20 years, earning her Master’s degree later in life. She also had a love of music and both played and taught piano as well as sang in various musical groups.

She was a longtime member of Global Missions Church at Charlotte, and truly loved the Lord in word and in deed. Isabelle loved her family, her church and her church family. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Eugene Hine, Jr., and son, John Walter Hine.

She is survived by her son, David E. Hine and wife, Paula, of Greenwood, SC; daughter, Pauline Hine Chinnis and husband, Bill, of Charlotte; and grandchildren, Katy Hine, Jordan Hine, Rebecca Chinnis, and Martha Chinnis.
