James Austin Barnes

Jim was at home surrounded by his immediate family at the time of his death. He was born on May 21, 1941 in Davidson County,

N.C. to Clarence Boyles Barnes and Jennie Rosetta Clodfelter Barnes. Jim spent his entire career working in the construction

industry as a business owner/partner. His work ranged from building hospitals in Saudia Arabia to overhauling Nursing Homes

and Assisted Living properties to maintaining the Salvation Army buildings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in

death by his brothers, David Leon Barnes and Dalton Reid Barnes.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Jarrell Barnes whom he met in Middle School. Also surviving are his daughter,

Sheila Barnes of Lorton, VA and his son Randy Barnes of Charlotte, NC, sisters Patsy Beck of Thomasville, NC, Sarah Ward and

husband Benny of Archdale, NC, Kathy Stabler and husband Brent of Thomasville, NC, nine nephews and nine neices.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jim on Friday June 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at the McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel

in Mint Hill, N.C. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until noon on Friday June 9. The Life Remembrance Service

will follow from noon until 12:45 pm. Immediately following will be the Gathering of Family and Friends.
