

Born February 3, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina, James was a son of the late Olen and Anne Christenbury. He was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School and was a U.S Army, Vietnam War veteran. Most recently, James drove a truck for florist.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Christenbury; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Norman Keziah; his sister-in-law, Doris Christenbury; and his brother-in-law, Glenn Smart.
He is survived by his siblings, Johnny Christenbury, France Smart, Helen Thompson and her husband, Richard, Joe Christenbury and his wife, Pat, Charles Christenbury and his wife, Vickey, Ray Christenbury and his wife, Debra, David Christenbury and Paul Christenbury and his wife, Rhonda. He also leaves behind numerous nephews and nieces.
A service to celebrate James’ life will be held 9:00 am Thursday, November 17, 2022, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Committal service, with military funeral honors, will follow at 11:00 am at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Boulevard in Salisbury, North Carolina. The Reverend Dr. Tom Tatum will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the donor’s favorite charity.
