The most important thing in Janice’s life was her family. She treasured every gathering — birthdays, holidays, swim meets, dance recitals, baseball games, gymnastics, theater performances, horseback riding lessons — any moment that brought her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren together. She was a very proud “Grams” to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than cheering them on and being present in their lives.
Janice worked for many years as a preschool teacher, where she lovingly cared for countless little ones and shared the love of Christ with them. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the classroom.
She was a devoted member of her Sunday school class, often arriving early to set up coffee and snacks before lessons. She cherished the friendships formed there as well as the gatherings outside of class.
For more than 50 years, Janice was part of a beloved bridge group known as the “Crazy 8’s.” These lifelong friends shared decades of laughter, beach trips, a memorable trip to Europe, and steadfast support through every season of life. Their bond was one she deeply cherished.
Janice had a smile that truly lit up a room. She brought joy to so many and had a gift for making others feel welcomed and loved. She also expressed her love through crocheting, creating countless handmade blankets that will continue to warm her family for generations to come.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Seidman; her daughters, Cindy Williams (Jason Williams) and Carla Sadler (Andy Sadler); her grandchildren, Kristen Pack (Ken Pack, Jr.), Lauren Pierce (Casey Sullivan), Carson Pierce (Christopher Bowman), Parks Sadler, and Ryley Sadler; her great-grandchildren, Carter Huff (son of Grant Pierce), Kennedy Pack, Colton Sullivan, and Kaden Pack; and her sister, Joyce Bozzone (John Bozzone) and her former son-in-law, Bobby Pierce, who has remained a beloved and devoted member of the family.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and love of her life, Jack Fairbanks, who passed nearly 29 years ago; her grandson, Grant Pierce; and her great-granddaughter, Zoe Grace.
Janice will be deeply missed by many, but we find comfort in knowing she is now resting peacefully, free from pain.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Herren Project (1061 Fish Rd., Tiverton, RI, 02878, herrenproject.org, 401-243-8590). A private celebration of life will be held with her family.
