At the age of 80, Jerry Baucom went home to be with his Lord on Friday, October 8th, at Matthews Medical Center after his fight for many years with congestive heart failure, kidney failure, macular degeneration and recently, with pneumonia. He was passionate about life and his walk with Jesus, and surely is happy to be home. Jerry resided in Concord, North Carolina and lived many years on Lake Norman in Denver, North Carolina. He was the loving son of Leroy Baucom and Margie Harkey Baucom (deceased) of Charlotte and graduated from East Mecklenburg H.S.
Jerry owned a freight auditing business, J.L.Baucom Associates in Denver, N.C. for over twenty years. He had his pilot's license and loved flying for business and personal recreation. He was a long time member of A.A. and spent many years mentoring and sponsoring those needing support in recovery. He was an avid reader in his younger years prior to his sight deterioration. Jerry enjoyed music, good food, boating, travel via his Harley Davidson motorcycle and RV camper, multiple cars and anything that went fast. He enjoyed many birthday, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners with family and always looked forward to the leftovers that he got to take home. We never knew Jerry to walk out without a "plate to go."
Jerry is survived by two children; Angie Baucom of Wilmington, North Carolina and Marty Baucom of Ruffin, North Carolina; his sister, Judy Baucom Tyndell of Mint Hill, North Carolina; his nephew, Brandon Tyndell, and his niece, Brooke Tyndell Ahrens along with many friends and extended family.
Donations may be made to one of his favorite charities, The Salvation Army, 4015 Stuart Andrew Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28217.
A graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, N.C. will be held on Monday, October 25th, 2021 at 12:00 noon.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.mcewenminthillchapel.com for the Baucom family.
