Jimmy Caddell Blakely

He is survived by his wife, Helen Blakely; daughters, Rhonda McDaniel (fiancé, Scott Don) and Tammy Bagley (husband, David Bagley); and granddaughter, Nicole Cress (significant other, Beecher Denton); and brother, Donnie Blakely (wife, Brenda).

Jimmy Blakely was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Todd Blakely, his father, Howell Blakely and mother, Eleanor Blakely, and also his brother, Ray Blakely.

Jimmy attended Nashville Auto Diesel College, graduated from Wingate College, and studied at Charlotte College.

Jimmy loved people and touched many lives with his caring and giving spirit. He was a member of Eastway Drive Church of God and was very active in the work of the church. Jimmy was on the Church Council, was an Usher, and director of Family Training Hour with his wife, Helen. Jimmy served several terms as a Sunday School Superintendent.

Jimmy enjoyed working with the outreach ministry of Eastway, and hosted an annual Christmas Banquet for residents for all outreach centers. He loved visiting and working at the farm, collecting hats, hunting, lawncare and ice cream. But most of all he loved God, family and friends.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 5:30 pm until 8 pm at the McEwen Funeral Home, Mint Hill Chapel, 7423 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, North Carolina 28227. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 2:00 pm, at Eastway Drive Church of God, 1131 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, North Carolina 28205.

Donations can be made to the Eastway Church of God in Jimmy Caddell Blakely’s name.

McEwen Funeral Service of Mint Hill will be assisting the Blakely family.
