Born on April 3, 1946, in Albemarle, NC, John grew up with deep roots in his community and graduated from Albemarle High School with the Class of 1965.
John was a man of integrity—generous, compassionate, loving, and steadfast in his word. He was a true outdoorsman who found joy in camping beneath the stars, hiking wooded trails, casting a line in quiet waters, or spending the day hunting. Whether he was working with his hands to repair something broken or soaking in the beauty of the mountains and beaches he loved to visit, John lived life with purpose and gratitude.
To know him was to witness selflessness in action. He was the kind of man who always showed up—offering help without being asked, delivering a handshake that spoke louder than words, and showing unwavering commitment to those he loved. His quiet strength and dependable spirit touched the lives of many and will remain a cherished legacy among his family and friends.
His beloved son, John C. Huneycutt, who carries forward the values, stories, and heart of a father survives him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Hiram Jacob Huneycutt and Margie Ellen Plowman, and his wife, Judy Valerie Huneycutt.
John will be missed dearly, remembered fondly, and honored always.
