

Judith Gray Clemons 76 of Matthews, North Carolina passed away January 6, 2022. Judy was born January 4, 1946 in Boston, Mass.. She grew up in Bartonville, Ill. and graduated from Limestone High School in 1964. She was preceded in death by her parents Gwynne and Eilleen Gray, of Bartonville, Ill.
Judy is survived by her husband Minor l Clemons. They were married in 1965. Judy liked to call Kenton, Ohio her 2nd home, beings where her and Minor's three children were born, Ronald (Jamie) Clemons of McAdenville, NC, Kathy Clemons Fowler of Matthews, NC and Karen (Brad) Brewer of Columbus, Ohio.
She loved her family, especially her grandson, Patrick L Clemons of McAdenville, NC.
Most of Judy's working years were doing what she loved best, was working with and for seniors. She was proud of the Hardin County Senior Center she was able to get built in Kenton, O. by starting from a small office in the corner of the old empty West Ohio Gas Co. Building and getting land donated from Hardin Memorial Hospital, plus meetings with local and state government for funding to help build and operate a full service senior center. She worked several years as director of the center after it was built. Judy also envisioned an adult day care center at the Hardin County Senior Center and with help from individuals, groups, local and state government, it was completed in 1997.
Judy was also honored for serving as a board member of the Hardin Home Health and Hospice Board, 1986-1992 for her faithful and dedicated service and the communities it serves. Judy was also involved in the United Way of Hardin County, Ohio, America Cancer Society, past member of National Council On The Aging and other community projects. She was presented a key of the city of Kenton, Ohio for her many services to the city and Hardin County. Judy belonged to The First United Methodist Church in Kenton, O. In 1991 Judy completed The Walk to Emmaus in South Africa with 45 other women.
After the family moved to NC, she worked in assisted living centers and worked to start a Salvation Army office in Union County. Judy retired from the Charlotte Tyvola Senior Center as Center Director.
