Judith "Judy" McCall Short

Judy was born on February 8, 1945, to the late Marvin and Mable McCall. She married the love of her life, Gene Short and they were married for 54 years before his passing. Together they had three children, Cindy, Teresa and Norris, Jr. Judy was very active in her children's lives and loved being a mother. She was overjoyed when she became a "Nana" to her eleven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

In the early days, Judy enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, reading, and coaching softball. As well as spending time at the beach house. She had quite the collection of cookbooks and recipes. She loved watching cooking shows, Hallmark movies, Gunsmoke & movies with the grandkids. She was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Monroe, North Carolina and loved her church family.

She was the caregiver for her husband Gene for many years through his health struggles. Judy was the family "dressin" maker for Thanksgiving and the M&M cookie maker for Christmas. She truly was happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She was known as Ninja Nana by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There are great memories of time spent at the beach house. She was loved and cherished by her family & friends very much. She will be missed everyday.

In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her husband, Norris "Gene" Short, Sr and brothers, Randy McCall, Jerry McCall and Ricky McCall. She is survived by her children, Cindy (Rex) Medlin, Teresa (Mike) Sell, and Norris (Jennifer) Short, Jr.; her grandchildren, Darryl Medlin, Amanda Cuthberson, Jenifer Travis, Clint Medlin, Garrett Horne, Melynn Medlin, Zach Horne, Andrew Sell, Samantha Parisi, Hannah Sell, and Stephanie Short; and great grandchildren, Colby Medlin, Nolan Medlin, Evan Medlin, Keira Meyer, Liam Jordan, Savannah Medlin, Carson Meyer, Ethan Medlin, Maddie Horne, Ava Medlin, Brayden Sell, Logan Travis, Deacon Medlin, Blake Horne, Jaxson Winebarger, Elijah Medlin, Audrey Horne, Layah Cuthberson, Londyn Cuthberson, Avalynn Travis and Francesca Sell.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. Funeral Services will follow at 1:30 PM. Judith will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC.
