Funeral is Wednesday 11am, Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte NC, followed by graveside service 1:00pm in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Community Cemetery, Cornelius, NC.
Judy was born in Atlanta, GA to James and Shirley Morgan, graduated from Durham High School, Durham NC and attended Sandhills Community College, Pinehurst NC. She worked as a secretary and senior administrative assistant for several corporations, most recently Wells Fargo Legal Department. She also enjoyed writing, had published a daily devotions book, and wrote a number of articles for The Charlotte World and other publications.
Judy was active at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, serving as Sunday school teacher, in Women on Missions and the Doves Nest outreach program. Judy was known for her positive outlook on life, even during the toughest parts of treatment. She served as a support contact for other myeloma patients through The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, even when very ill herself.
Judy’s giving and loving spirit will live on in the memory of all that ever met or knew her. She fought the myeloma until the end, never giving up hope, even at the worst times during her treatment. When told she did not have long to live, she was determined to live long enough to hold her grandson, and was rewarded with 3 weeks with him.
Surviving are husband Charles L. Plummer of the home, her son Josh Plummer and wife Caroline and Judy’s much cherished grandson Andrew Plummer of Charlotte NC, and daughter Jennifer Wahlquist and husband Brian Wahlquist of Los Angeles, CA. Judy also has two brothers, Jerry Morgan of Durham NC and Mike Morgan in Mississippi and two sisters Marie Fulcher of Durham NC, and Shirley Jean Ellis, of NC.
The family would like to thank Dr. John T. Crawford and his nurse Lynne of Crown Point Family Physicians, the staff at Matthews Hemotogy Clinic, especially Dr. Richard S. Foulke, Linda and Susan. Also, all the staff at Duke Adult Bone Marrow Transplant Clinic, especially Dr. Mitchell Horwitz and Dr. Cristina Gasparetto, and Presbyterian Hospice of Charlotte.
