Kathy was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Paul L. Driver along with her parents, Rupert and Evelyn McCorkle.
Kathy is survived by her children, Lesley Ritch (Richard) of Concord, Tim Gardner (Elizabeth) of Fort Lawn, Dawn Delucia (Apollo) of Atlanta and Mark Gillingham (Susan) of Davie. As well, Kathy was survived by her seven grandchildren: Katelynn, Adam and Tyler Ritch, Aiden and Jake Gardner, Thomas Delucia and Hali Gillingham; her four siblings, Susan Ledford of Mt. Holly, Kyle Turner (Don) of Cumming, Kim Nooe (Al) of Waxhaw and John McCorkle (Tammy) of Stanley.
Kathy was born and raised in Charlotte, NC but spent most of her adult life living and working in Florida. She loved to spend time with family on vacations as well as her annual trip to the mountains of Tennessee. Her favorite time of the year was hands down Christmas and that showed with the overabundance of decorations and mounds of gifts around the tree which grew with each passing year.
Kathy’s loving soul served a higher purpose and we all saw that with her service and dedication to helping others. After graduating from Presbyterian School of Nursing, Kathy went on to have a career as a Hospice Nurse for over thirty years. Not only did Kathy love helping others, but she had a great love for family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00 am. A catered reception will follow the service where family and friends can gather to share memories.
