

Margaret Mary Cronin Abendschein of Matthews, NC passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Novant Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, NC after a short illness. She was born on October 13, 1922 to John P. Cronin and Margaret O'Shea Cronin in New York City, NY.
Peg was a graduate of Cathedral H.S. in NYC. She then attended Holy Cross Business School and Hunter College in NYC.
Peg was married to Albert E. Abendschein on August 3, 1946 and they resided in Valhalla, NY until moving to Matthews, NC in 1996. In 2011 Peg moved to Plantation Estates Retirement Community in Matthews.
She had a career in insurance and education, working at Met Life, IRM and Westchester County Board of Education as an Executive Secretary.
She was a member of the National Secretaries Assn. (PSI) and served as an officer in many positions including Vice President.
Peg loved her family and friends spending many hours visiting with them. She also had a love of arts and crafts and enjoyed fishing and boating. Peg also loved the ocean and spent many vacations by the water, especially Myrtle Beach.
She is predeceased in death by her husband Albert E. Abendschein, sisters Joan Cronin and Mary Vaughn, sister-in-law Shirley Abendschein. She is survived by her daughter Barbara L. Fuller (Jerome) of Monroe, NC, son Edward E. Abendschein of Black Rock, CT and son-in-law Joseph W Gadbois of Stallings, NC; also grandchildren Dianne Savelle (Tim), Mark Gadbois (Jill) and Tyler Reincke; and great-grandson Trenton Savelle.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to: The American Legion Post #27, PO Box 442, Monroe, NC 28111 and/or to The Women of the Moose Chapter #2402, PO Box 381, Monroe, NC 28111.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC on Friday, November 10, 2017 from 5-9 with a service at 7.
