

Margaret S. Boyce, 96, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on April 24th at Brookdale Senior Living, Charlotte, with her loving family supporting her and giving gratitude for her constant love and long life. Margaret was born in Charlotte on Aug. 3rd, 1919. She is predeceased by her parents Gertrude and Roy Smith, brothers Neill, Roy, and sister Mary and her devoted and loving husband of 61 years, the Rev. James H. Boyce. Margaret and James married during WWII before James flew his 31 missions in bomber planes over the European Theatre. Margaret served as a county clerk for Mecklenburg during that time.
Margaret is survived by their five children: Dr. Trudy Nan Boyce Ph.D (Rick) of Atlanta; the Rev. Bonnie S. Boyce (David) of Huntington, WV; Jim N. Boyce (Terry) of Matthews; John L. Boyce (Mary) of Lexington, SC; and S’Ann Boyce-Wilson (Lee) of Spartanburg, SC; as well as 7 grandchildren; 6 great grand children; her sister, Faye S. Birkitt of St. Petersburg,FL and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret, besides being a devoted wife and mother, was employed as secretary at Sequoyah High School, Doraville, GA; East Mecklenburg High, Charlotte,York Comprehensive High in SC; and enjoyed being the family historian, singing in choirs, playing bridge, an avid sports enthusiast, beaches, and was a witty, dynamic and beautiful woman.
McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC is in charge of the arrangements. Private graveside service will be held at the Sharon A.R.P. Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Bonclarken Conference Retreat, 500 Pine Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or a charity of your choice.
