

Margie M. Davis Gaskin, 83, of Charlotte, North Carolina, entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2026. She was born on August 30, 1942, and lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for others.
A proud graduate of James B. Dudley High School, Class of 1960, Margie carried her education and values into a lifetime of service. She opened her heart and home as a Foster Mother to pre-teen boys, offering guidance, stability, and compassion to every child entrusted to her care.
Margie was a devoted and active member of Jonesville AME Zion Church, where her presence was felt in nearly every corner of the congregation. She served faithfully as a choir member, treasurer, Stewardess, Usher Board member, and a dedicated participant in the Missionary Committee and Merchandise Mart Committee. Her commitment to her church family was a reflection of her deep faith and her desire to uplift others.
Known for her warm spirit, Margie found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cooking meals that brought people together, shopping for treasures big and small, and relaxing while watching her favorite television programs. Her gentle nature and loving ways left an impression on everyone she met.
Above all, Margie will be remembered for her kindness. It was the thread that ran through every chapter of her life, touching family, friends, neighbors, and countless others who were blessed to know her.
Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who cherished her.
Margie is survived by her children, Delana Shurland (Hayden) and Darren Stokes; grandchild, Jaquawn Coltrane; siblings, Shirley Hayes(Reginald), Roland Davis Jr., Ronald Caviness, Deborah Caviness, Bernard Caviness, Charles Caviness, Paul Waddell(Peggie), and Sharon Caviness, and a host of Nieces, nephews, and cousins
She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Walter P. Stokes and Robert Gaskin; parents, Roland Davis, Sr. and Dorothy D. Caviness; father, Robert Caviness; brothers, Bruce Davis, Rondy Davis, Fred Davis, Anthony Davis and Gregory Davis; and grandparents, Weldon and Emma Davis, Newton and Nettie McAdoo.
Visitation will be held on February 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Jonesville AME Zion Church, located at 11700 Idlewild Road, Matthews, NC, 28105, US.
The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 12:00 pm at the same location.
The Committal Service will immediately follow the Celebration of Life Service at Jonesville AME Zion Church.
