Mary Ann was born and raised in Binghamton NY and was the eldest of nine children.
She met William “Ed” Liddic, the love of her life, in the late 1950’s and they were married in 1958, having spent over 65 years together while quoting the song "Look at Us". This loving couple raised seven children in a two-bedroom, one bath home in the hills of Binghamton. They moved to Charlotte NC in 1979 then later retired to Punta Gorda FL. While making dolls and creating woodworking for Craft Shows in Florida their little family had grown, adding 21 grandkids. Then making their way back to Charlotte for the remainder of her life, Mary Ann's family would continue to grow by adding many great grandkids and counting.
Mary Ann's memory was amazing, and she remembered every one of her children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s birthdays and special occasions. She continued to buy each of them a Christmas gift every year. No one was ever left out. Mary Ann had a deep passion and commitment to family and later in life was often referred to by many as the Matriarch of the O’Neil clan.
Mary Ann was a great cook and always made plenty for unexpected guests. Everyone was welcome at their table, and nobody ever left the house hungry. She made many friends through her love of singing, sewing and crafts. Her greatest passion was sewing. In the mid 1960’s her artistic talent showed through when she created her own pattern for her sought after Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. Always leaving a heart on the belly of the dolls as a reminder they were made with love. She handmade clothes, costumes and uniforms for her children and many others. She was a proud and beautiful woman, a devoted wife, a loving mother-grandmother-great grandmother, and a great friend to many.
Mary Ann is predeceased by her parents Joseph O'Neil and Anamae O'Neil (Risley), her brothers James, Gary, Richard, Michael, Ronald, and sister Eileen Grabowski (O'Neil).
