Michael Edward Gheesling Sr.

Michael Edward Gheesling Sr. 82, passed away July 17, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of Charlotte, graduating from Central High School in 1953. He received a BA degree in History from UNC Charlotte.

Michael was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to travel and to play golf. He really enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts and with the Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He was a Shriner and was proud to be a part of their Key Stone Kops.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his grandson, Remington Reid Morgan.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Cole; son, M. Edward Gheesling Jr. (Leslie); daughter, Lyn Morgan; sister, Martha Broadwell and her family; grandsons, Michael (Brittany), and Daniel Gheesling, and great-granddaughter, Anniston Gheesling.

A visitation with the family will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at McEwen Funeral Home-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 11: a.m. at Loves Grove UMC, 4360 Polk Ford Rd. Stanfield, NC, 28163.
