Michael Vincent Jones

Born on July 22, 1967, Mike was the younger of two sons born to Robert Lawrence Jones Sr. and Wilma Holmes Jones. A vibrant soul with a caring heart, Mike spent the majority of his life in Philadelphia, PA. Later in life, he moved south with his mother to live with his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Marilyn Jones. Affectionately called Michael The Lover, he was known for his infectious smile, joyful energy, and his unending love for his family and friends.

A gifted drummer from an early age, Mike attended the School of Performing Arts in Philadelphia, graduating at the age of 21. He was a beloved member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, where he played percussion during Sunday services. Mike worked at the Tastykake Factory and was a proud member of the Special Population program at The Carousel House. After moving to North Carolina, he became an adored member of Providence Baptist Church.

Mike was a cherished son, brother, uncle, friend, and member of his community. His love touched all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lawrence Jones Sr., and is survived by his mother, Wilma Jones; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Marilyn Jones; his nieces Kayla and Bobbi Jones, Taylor Holt, and Brittany Shearin; nephew, Garrett Shearin; and great-nieces, Blakely, Adaline, and Hayden Shearin.

A visitation for Mike will be held Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 6123 Jefferson Street, Philadelphia, PA 19151, with a funeral service to immediately follow. Mike will be laid to rest at Rolling Green Memorial Park, 1008 West Chester Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.
