

Nancy D. Huggins, 88, formerly of Matthews, NC, passed away September 4, 2011 at Morningside Assisted Living, Lancaster, SC. She was born March 7, 1923 in Johnson County, Tennessee, daughter of the late Ceford and Celia Hatley Dugger. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R.J. Huggins, Jr., three brothers, Lucky, Fate, and Paul Dugger, and two sisters, Rodah Dugger and Ona Dugger Treadway.
Mrs. Huggins is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Mary Lynne Huggins of Charlotte, and Richard and Jane Huggins of Lancaster, SC; three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Hurt of Elizabethton, TN; and five nephews.
Mrs. Huggins was a graduate of Watauga Academy, Butler, TN and Steede School of Business, Elizabethton, TN. She was employed by Beaunit Mills, Elizabethton, TN for 14 years as an executive secretary. Mrs. Huggins had been a resident of Matthews and member of First Baptist Church of Matthews since 1961 and a member of the Happy Times Club since 1979.
Mrs. Huggins will always be remembered for her fun personality, her perfectly detailed craftwork and her expertise as a seamstress.
The family will receive friends in the foyer of First Baptist Church of Matthews from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 7, with her memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Happy Valley Memorial Park, Elizabethton, TN.
