On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Patricia Lyles Brooks, age 66, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Patricia’s life was a beautiful reflection of faith, love, and unwavering dedication to those she held dear.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Scott Brooks; her sons, Matthew (Heather) and Mark (Cassandra); her cherished grandchildren, Emma, Annabelle, and Blaize; and her brothers, Wayne (Brenda) Lyles and Jerry (Danette) Lyles, niece Shea Rice and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Louis Lyles.
Patricia was born on May 29, 1959, in Concord, North Carolina, at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital. She later moved with her family to Kernersville, where she attended East Forsyth High School, class of 1977 and later went on to Queens University. Above all else, Patricia’s greatest calling was caring for her family. She devoted her early years to staying home with Matthew and Mark, creating a foundation of love and stability that would guide them throughout their lives.
When her sons entered elementary school, Patricia began her professional career, eventually dedicating the majority of her working years to Cabarrus County Schools as a school treasurer. She faithfully served at A.T. Allen Elementary, home of the Cardinals, before transferring to Rocky River Elementary, where she later retired. Patricia was known for her kindness, reliability, and the genuine care she showed to students, staff, and families alike.
Family was at the heart of Patricia’s life. She shared a deep and abiding love with her husband, Scott — they did everything together and were rarely seen apart. Many weekends were spent at the racetrack, where she proudly supported Scott and her sons in their racing endeavors. When they weren’t at the track, cherished memories were made at Lake Tillery, boating and tubing together as a family. It was there that they rescued a puppy, lovingly named Tillery, who held a special place in Patricia’s heart.
Patricia found immense joy in being “Maw Maw.” She treasured every opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s softball, baseball, and basketball games, always cheering from the sidelines with pride and love.
A woman of strong faith, Patricia was a devoted Christian who began each day with coffee and her daily devotionals. She most recently attended Central United Methodist Church in Concord and volunteered in the clothing room operated by the Junior Charity League of Concord, quietly serving others with compassion and generosity.
