Robert Paul Reilly

Born on August 25, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert lived a long and full life devoted to faith, family, and heritage, as well as a proud veteran. Proud of his Irish roots, he carried forward the traditions of his ancestry with stories, celebrations, and a spirit that made everyone feel welcome at his table.

Robert was the beloved husband of Peggy Reilly, to whom he was married for 67 wonderful years. Their enduring relationship of love and devotion served as a role model for the entire family and was a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew them.

Robert was the beloved father of six children. He is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Reilly and survived by five children: Patty Gemmill (husband Pete), Mitch Reilly (wife Beth), Ken Reilly, Mike Reilly (wife Jo Beth), and Denise Alridge (husband Spencer). He was also the cherished grandfather of ten: Matthew, Bryan, Mary, Robert, Margret, Allie, Evan, Reilly, Will, and Carly, and great-grandfather of nine: Sophia, Boston, Saylor, Huxley, Thomas, Madeline, Penelope, Nina, and Nico. He is also survived by his sister Winnie and preceded in death by his parents Tom and Catherine, sisters Elaine and Shirley, and brother Tom. Nothing brought him more joy than a full house — whether it was with family gathered close or an evening spent around the card table.

A visitation will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Charlotte, NC on September 18th, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., immediately followed by a funeral Mass. An interment service will follow at St. Gabriel's columbarium at 1:00pm, that will include military honors. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate his remarkable life and Irish spirit.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Atrium West Hospital, especially Wini, Anna, and Zack, for their compassionate care.

The family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association and/or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
