

Robert “Bob” Colton Sheffield, Jr., husband of 34 years to Adrienne Weatherly Sheffield, passed away on August 26th, 2025 surrounded by family. Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 8th, 1967 to Robert Colton Sheffield, Sr. and Mavis Herold Sheffield. In addition to his wife and father, Bob is survived by his sister, Lori Ann Harber, son, Tyler Sheffield, daughter-in-law to be, Chelsea Vines, and nephews, Colton, David, Robert, Nicholas and Jonathan.
Bob was in the first graduating class from Prince Avenue Christian School in Athens, Georgia in 1986, where he won a state championship in basketball. He then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1991. He worked for New York Life from 1994 until he medically retired in October of 2019. He was passionate about his career as a development manager that gave him the opportunity to train new agents and help their careers grow. Later, he enjoyed traveling across the southeast as a life product consultant where he was able to work with a greater number of agents and help impact more individuals.
Bob married his high school sweetheart in 1991 and they had one son, Tyler. Bob valued his time with family where he enjoyed playing basketball and video games with his son, as well as traveling to the Caribbean to scuba dive or relax on the beach with his wife. He was an avid Georgia football fan and enjoyed traveling to games as well as watching with his family at home.
There will be a Celebration of Life to honor Bob at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint-Hill Rd., Mint Hill, NC on Thursday, August 28th from 4-6pm followed by a private burial at a later date. The family would like to thank the healthcare workers at Novant Mint Hill Hospital and Via Health Partners for their compassionate care of Bob during his final weeks with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked those who would like to honor Bob to make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Tunnels to Towers, or the Neal Weatherly Scholarship at the University of Georgia. Please see links below.
