

Roberta Duckett, 74, of Mint Hill, passed away on March 23, 2013 at home after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on May 19, 1938 in Charlotte, NC to the late P.A. and Maggie Stephenson. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Herman P. Duckett.
Roberta held various jobs throughout her life, including Kress Department Store, various hosiery mills and finally retiring from “Smith Turf and Irrigation” after 32 years of service. Her favorite pastimes were listening to Southern Gospel music, talking and spending time with her friends and watching WWE “Smackdown” with her great-grandchildren on Friday nights.
She leaves to mourn her presence, her daughter, Paula Nealy, of the home, 2 grandchildren, Rick Nealy and Dana Buie (Robbie), both of Charlotte; 4 great-grandchildren, Sean, RJ, Elyssa and Bradley; one brother, Tommy Thompson (Shirley) of Midland, 2 sisters, Lillie Mae Shaver (Norman)of Kannapolis and Deloris Hoggard of Midland, as well as many other special family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 6:00to 8:00pm at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at First United Pentecostal Church 4929 N. Sharon Amity Rd Charlotte, NC 28205. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park in Mint Hill.
