Robin was born in Charlotte, NC, to Doris and Ernest Perry. She graduated from Independence High School in 1972, and attended the UNC Charlotte from 1972 to1974. From childhood to age 17, she participated in recitals in tap and ballet dancing.
One of Robin’s greatest passions and achievements was playing a large part in founding Collie Rescue of the Carolinas in 2000. This non-profit organization has rescued and placed over 1,100 abandoned and abused collies. Memorials may be made at http://www.collierescue.net.
Robin met Alan Haynes in 2011 at a large New Year’s celebration by Lena and Nelson Haynes (Alan’s brother). It was love at first sight for Robin and Alan. They became inseparable as a couple, enjoying concerts, movies, beach trips, and a host of outdoor activities. They loved each other deeply.
Robin was an insurance underwriter, earning praise from employers while forming lasting friendships at work; as she traveled the U.S., attending Clay Aiken concerts; and while touring Europe. She loved music, especially the Beatles, and was a featured singer along with Alan at Unity of Lake Norman Church. Robin’s love of all creatures is evidenced by the designation of her property, co-owned with Yvonne Shelton, as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
Robin was preceded by her father, Ernest Perry. She is survived by her mother, Doris Perry, Aunt Shirley Mullis, Aunt Martha Perry, Uncle Charlie Perry, Uncle Howard Perry, close friends Bianca Hartsell, Georgia Kinney, and Yvonne Shelton, life and love partner Alan Ross Haynes, many cousins, and other close friends.
A memorial service, followed by a catered visitation and large screen slide show celebration of Robin’s life in pictures, will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at 2 pm at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
Condolences may be offered at www.mcewenminthillchapel.com.
