Roy "Eddie" Edgar Holbrook Jr.

Eddie was born in Washington, DC. but grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Frances Holbrook and his father, Roy Edgar Holbrook. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Furr Holbrook, his sister, Mary Holbrook Rice, and brother-in-law, William Kline Rice, Jr. He was a beloved uncle to four nieces and nephews and their spouses – William Kline Rice, III (Jennifer), Paul Christopher Rice (Leslie), Elizabeth Rice Kunze (Brent), and Nina Katherine Rice – as well as ten great nieces and nephews – Judah, Ezra, Micah, Evangeline, Josephine, Noah, Elina, Addie, Jonah, and one to be named upon arrival in June.

Eddie was employed by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for over thirty-five years. He was a devoted volunteer at Novant (Presbyterian) Hospital for seventeen years, usually in the heart unit. He loved golf, travel, woodworking. But mostly he loved his family. We will all miss him terribly, but know he is in Heaven, in the presence of Jesus with his family who passed on before him. We know they were there to great him and are sure he has them all laughing, as he never lost his amazing sense of humor, even through his devastating illness.

A memorial service for Eddie will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227, followed by a reception.
