Ruby Simpson Pettit

Ruby had a heart of gold and would often take care of others. She enjoyed baking and before retiring from Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, she would prepare the baked goods for the cafeteria.

Ruby was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Charlotte and also a member of the Gideon’s. Her faith in Jesus Christ was very strong.

She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Cruse (David); son, Ike Pettit (Leigh); brothers-in-law, Larry Pettit (Vern) , George Pettit and Jerry James; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Hinson and Maria Pettit Dunn; grandson, Jonathan Cruse; and granddaughter, Karleigh Pettit.

She also leaves behind her special friends, Ann Austin, Jerry Evans (Kelly), Dick Evans, and Tom Flow.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Pettit; brother, Bill Flow; and half-sister, Kathleen McCall Hefner.

A visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 until 9:00pm Thursday, October 6, 2016, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, in Mint Hill.

A funeral service will be at 1:00pm Friday, October 7, 2016, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 600 Peachtree Road in Charlotte.

Interment will immediately follow the service in Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.
