Ruth Edith Taylor Kennedy

Ruth Edith Taylor Kennedy, 99, of Mint Hill, NC, died Friday evening, May 10, 2013, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center. Born November 8, 1913 in Hiawassee, GA, she was a daughter of the late Rosie Jane Taylor and Jeremiah Martin Taylor.

Mrs. Kennedy had worked with Hudson Hosiery Mill in Charlotte, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Indian Trail. She loved to quilt, garden and have beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julius Rex Kennedy.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Kennedy and wife, Dianne, of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Kevin Kennedy of Charlotte and Kimberly Kennedy of Mint Hill; great-grandson, Derrick Goff of Princeton, NJ; sister, Pauline Funderburk of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews.

Her family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, with a graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Matthews.

The family wishes to thank the workers and staff at Lawyer’s Glenn for their compassionate care for the past several years.
