Ruth M Starnes

Ruth enjoyed life and loved having friends and family over for cook outs. She was known as "The candy lady" at Robinson Presbyterian Church where she was a member for several decades. Ruth made the best homemade biscuits and chicken and dumplings in town.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Robert Starnes; son, Robert Jeffrey; grandson, Michael Starnes Jr., and two brothers, David and Herb.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Sawyer, and her son Michael Starnes.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Clear creek Nursing Home and Rehab, who genuinely loved and demonstrated deep affection for her, calling her momma Ruth. The family would also like to thank Novant Hospice.

A visitation will be on Saturday, January 21, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A graveside service will be held Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 2:00p.m. in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
