

Sandra Lee Moore, passed away on January 25, 2018 at Elliot Manor. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, William and Nettie Lee Kitchen and her husband, Thomas K. Moore; son, William T. Moore; and grandson, Cameron Lee Moore. She had been a resident of Mint Hill since May 1999. Prior to that, she lived in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born in Huntington, W. VA.
She graduated from Beaver High School in Bluefield. She attended Marshall College (now University) and received a BA degree in Journalism from George Washington University. She received a Master’s Degree in Personnel Administration from Lynchburg College.
After 35 years with the Virginia Social Services system and Virginia Commission for the Visually Handicapped, in Roanoke. She attended Huntington Court United Methodist Church. She retired in 1997. She moved with her mother, the late Nettie Lee Kitchen to Mint Hill in 1999.
In Mint Hill she belonged to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, Fellowship Sunday School Class, taught Sunday School, Wonderful Wednesdays, nursery, Joy Ministry, Vacation Bible School, Presbyterian Women’s Bazaar Committee, Christian Education Committee, she as an elder, and a part of the Jolly Good Timers. Sandy was involved in the Mint Hill Lion’s Club. She was a chairperson of the Lions’ White Cane Fund and as a fund raiser, initiated the Mint Hill Christmas “Parlor Tour.” Mrs. Moore sang karaoke at O’Neil’s. Her travels took her to Spain, Russia, Finland, and other European countries as well as the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada and most of the U.S.
She is survived by her son, Joel Todd Moore and his wife, Judith Ann; daughter, Lisa Gay Snider, Blacksburg, VA; grandchildren, Jade Allana Moore, Thomas Stirling Moore, and Shannon Marie Snider (Chris); and great-grandson, Mason Lee Moore.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will also take place in Roanoke, VA at Oakey’s North Chapel on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 1, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., where she will be interred next to her maternal grandmother and near her parents.
