Stephanie Donovan Craig

Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Patrice Conwell Haines and Dr. Innes Correll Haines, as well as her brother, Alexander Conwell Haines. She is survived by her husband, John M. Craig and her sister, Leslie Haines of Burlington. Survivors also include her children, Andrea Arnette (and James) and John A. Craig (and Kristi), and six grandchildren, Joshua Arnette, Ashley Arnette, Jeremy Arnette, Eleanor Craig, Banner Craig, and Camelia Craig.

Stephanie was born in Baltimore, MD and grew up in Fayetteville at her family’s beloved Toad Hall. She attended St. Mary’s Junior College and then attended and graduated from Methodist College. She later moved to Charlotte where she eventually met and married John M. Craig in December of 1987. In one stroke, she gained not only a devoted husband, but also two beloved children, Andrea and John.

She had various careers, but her longstanding and two favorite endeavors were teaching preschool at The Children’s Place at Providence Road Church of Christ and working as a librarian for the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. These touched on her love of children and her love of literature and movies. In her spare time, she could be found reading books of all genres, watching classic movies, or taking care of a favorite cat.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 2:00PM at Idlewild Baptist Church, 12701 Idlewild Road Matthews, NC 28105.
