

Born April 18, 1947 in Gibon, Nabas, Aklan, Philippines, Thelma was a daughter of the late Simeon and Conrada Maghibon. She has resided in Mint Hill for the last 43 years. Thelma was a devoted wife and mother. Not only a mother to her four children and nana to her seven grandchildren, but to countless children she cared for in her home day care as well. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Nonito and Norberto.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Ray Thompson; her children, Dianne Noel and husband, Stan, Dottie Flaherty, David Thompson and wife, Holly, and Donna Thompson; her grandchildren, Tres, Megan and Alex Noel, Alexis and Adam Flaherty, and Cole and Sedona Thompson; three sisters, Nora Flores, Angelina Fernando and Salvacion Fernando; and two brothers, Felipe Maghibon and Leopoldo Maghibon.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, at St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, with the Rev. Paul Gary, celebrant. Interment will follow in Forest lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
