Verla Winegeart White

Her family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 16 at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Road, with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Pastor Grant Hoffman will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Born March 23, 1938 in Glenmora, LA, Mrs. White was a daughter of the late John Winegeart and Edna Jeffers Winegeart. She was a Christian and member of Wilson Grove Baptist Church for over 45 years. Mrs. White retired in 2000 from AT&T as equipment coordinator after 27 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Mitchell White, Jr., her daughter, Rhonda Blackwelder, a brother, Kenneth Winegeart, and a sister, Audrey Faye Davis.

She is survived by two sons, Norman White and wife, Cathy, of Charlotte and Michael White of Wesley Chapel; a brother, Charles Winegeart and wife, Ellen, and three sisters, Pauline Melder and husband, Jody, and Geraldine Nessmith, all of Louisiana, and Elaine Burch and husband, Boyd, of Texas; and eight grandchildren, Brendon Blackwelder, Paige White, Garrick White, Camron Blackwelder, Mitchell White, Jeana White, Krista White and Daniel White.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
