Virginia Mari Darling

Virginia Mari Darling, 93, of Matthews, N.C., passed away Saturday morning, January 11, 2014. Born in Chicago, IL. on April 5, 1920 to the late Walter and Lillian Richards. She grew up there and was married to the late Edward T. Darling. They would later move to Detroit, MI where they spent most of their 54 years of marriage. She spent a lot of time assisting her husband with his work with The Billy Graham Association in Charlotte, N.C. and later with The Voice of Christian Youth in Detroit, MI.

Twenty years after her husband’s death, Virginia relocated to Matthews, N.C. to be closer to her family. She attended First Baptist Church of Matthews where she was a member of the “Dorgas Sunday School” class. She is survived by her son, Alan L. Darling and his wife, Sugar of Charlotte, N.C., and her daughter, Carole L. Rochemont and her husband, Ron of Matthews, N.C. Virginia was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 12:00pm with visitation one hour prior at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Charlotte, NC 28227. Interment is planned for Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi. MI.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Matthews Benevolence Fund in Virginia’s name.
