William Kenneth "Ken" Baucom

William Kenneth "Ken" Baucom, 86, of Mint Hill, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2015, at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center Hospice Unit. Born June 13, 1929 in Monroe, NC, he was the son of the late James Carl Baucom and Rena Taylor Baucom.

Ken was a devoted husband and father who tirelessly served his family and community. He worked with Sears and Wells Construction Company before branching out to start his own general contracting firm, W.K. Baucom Inc. Ken served the Mint Hill community as a former volunteer fire fighter, town commissioner and a Boy Scout leader.

In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, June Medlin Baucom and grandson, William McCrae Baucom.

He is survived by his sons, Tad (Pam) Baucom and Eddie (Jo Anne) Baucom; grandchildren, Brooke (Daren) Hunter, Taylor and Shelby Baucom, Sherrill Anne (James) Butler, Sam (Catherine) Baucom and Wes Baucom; and great-grandson, Easton James Hunter.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 23, at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church, 3619 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
