Born on May 7, 1940, in Summerville, Georgia, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Eugene Russell Wells and Lena Mae Henderson Wells. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, David Rance Lane, Sr.; her cherished daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bobby Webb; four sisters, Rita Williams, Nell Grimes, Ann Brown, and Lois Skinner; and three brothers, Hollis, Jimmy, and Doyle Wells.
Betty dedicated many years of her life to caring for others as a nurse at Hamilton County Nursing Home, retiring after a long and meaningful career. Her compassionate spirit extended far beyond her work—she loved her family deeply and found simple joy in spending time doing crossword puzzles and word searches. She was a faithful and longtime member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Ooltewah, where she found strength, fellowship, and comfort.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son and daughter-in-law, David R. Lane II and Tiffany Lane, of Harrison, Tennessee; her precious grandchildren, McKenzie Penney and husband, Tanner and Kendall Lane; her sister, Nadine Headrick, of Rome, Georgia; along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
