He was the son of the late L. B. McGowan, Sr. and Carrie Perfetti and was preceded in death by his three sisters, Elsie, Frieda, Jane and brother, L. B. McGowan, Jr.
Charles was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and retired from Unum Provident Insurance Company in 1999.
He was a member of Primitive Church of God.
Survivors include his loving wife, Flora K. McGowan, of Harrison, Tennessee and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Ledford and Rev. Clint Ledford officiating. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the funeral home.
