Mr. Gill was born and raised in Dayton, TN. He retired from Combustion Engineering as a crane operator and worked at Oak Ridge during WWII. He was most recently a member of Honestville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Eva Gill; second wife, Earlene Brooks Gill; and several brothers.
Surviving are his sons, Robert L. Gill and John B. Gill; step-daughters, Robbie Nutt and Kathy Smith; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Dorothy Durham, Lucy Griffin and Wildean Ellis.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Chattanooga Funeral Home - Valley View Chapel.
A Private Graveside Service will be at Lee Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
