

Mrs. Parnelle was born in Newton County, Georgia, raised in Covington, Georgia and was a longtime resident of Ooltewah. Dorothy was the true Matriarch of her family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and homemaker. She influenced her family and anybody that knew her with her deep Christian faith. She shared with her family her many talents including: quilting, seamstress work, gardening and biscuit making. She was known for her muscadine jelly and her Grannie’s Biscuits, which were sold in the former Red Food frozen department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Parnelle, Sr., son, Thomas R. Parnelle, Jr., Mother, Lula Mae Stowe, Father, Harold F. Stowe and brothers, John C. Stowe and Nathan H. Stowe.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda D. Steinbacher; son-in-law, Charles C. Steinbacher; daughter-in-law, Dixie Parnell; grandchildren, Cheryl E. (Clayton C.) Koch, Frederick W. (Amanda) Evans, Jr., Thomas R. (Lisa) Parnell, III, Angela P. (Dale) Williams and Tiffany Ana Parnell; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Justin, Brittany, Lauren, Morgan, Emma, Emmie, Bo, Katie, Eli and Daelon; great-great-grandchildren, Vesper Rose and Jackson and family members, Shirlee Greene and Fred Evans, Sr.
Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the funeral home.
Graveside Services will follow at 2 PM on Monday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Felton Maughon officiating.
Pallbearers are Fred Evans, Jr., Cody Sherlin, Thomas Parnell, III, Clayton Koch, Bo Gentry, Lauren Sherlin, Brittany Moore and Eli Parnell.
