He was born on September 27, 1958, to Eugene Scott Smith and Johnathan Sue Yarnell Smith of Ooltewah.
Scott attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. After earning his undergraduate degree, Scott continued to earn a Master degree (UT, Knoxville). Following several years in industry, Scott returned to school earning his MBA from Vanderbilt University.
Scott decided to return to his passion and legacy- farming. He was the owner operator of Smith Berry Gardens and Smith Farms Beef Cattle.
He enjoyed UT football, hunting, and his family. Unwavering in his generosity of time, love, and encouragement, Scott served as a humble servant of God, adoring son, loving brother, and indulgent uncle.
Scott is survived by his mother, Johnathan Y. Smith; his brother David Y. Smith (Donna); sister Elizabeth Smith Webb (Nelson); and nephews Wright Y. Smith, Michael S. Smith, Nathaniel H. Webb (Nina) and Samuel B. Webb (Sara).
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Scott Smith; his grandparents, Sam H. and Irene Smith; Wright and Sue Yarnell, all of Ooltewah.

A private graveside service will be held.
