He was the son of the late Leola and Jeff Durham and was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Durham, and two sisters, Virginia Poe and Claudia Langston.
Jim was a song leader for several years. He loved to sing for Jesus and going to the House of the Lord. His favorite song was “Take My Hand Precious Lord”.
He retired, after 42 years, as a school bus driver for the Hamilton County School System.
Jim never met a stranger and was loved by everyone.
Survivors include his wife, Delia Ruth S. Durham, two sons, Jackie (Chris) Durham, of Pikeville, TN, James G. Durham, Jr., of Chattanooga, TN, step son, Philip H. (Meri) Smith, of Ooltewah, TN, step daughter, Kellie (Lamar) Ray, of East Ridge, TN, six step grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 25, 2016, at Ooltewah Cemetery with Rev. James Langston officiating.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
