She was the daughter of the late Roy and Mammie McGowan and was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester, Richard and Leonard McGowan and two sisters, Marie Pack and Louise Wiggins.
Janie was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include her five children, Barbara (Jerry) Clift, Robin (Dale) Watts, both of Ooltewah, TN, Lonnie (Diane) Almond, Chattanooga, TN, George (Freida) Almond, of Ooltewah, TN, Connie (Steve) Dowdy, of Ringgold, GA, twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, sister, Mary Bingham, of Ooltewah, TN, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 16, 2018, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Holder officiating. Burial will follow in New McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah, TN.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the funeral home.
