Jesse Ray Riggs

Mr. Riggs was born and raised in Coldwater, Michigan. He received his Master Barber License after completing barber college in the early 60’s. He worked and managed several shops in Michigan and Florida before moving to Ooltewah, TN. He was the owner and operator of Davis Barbershop on Highway 58 for the last 30 years. Mr. Riggs was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church. He loved playing golf and especially enjoyed his annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach with his golfing friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Rigg; mother, Catherine Ackerman; and step-father, Richard Ackerman.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Bonnie Riggs; sons, Sean (Bridget) Riggs of Odessa, FL, Alan (Cammie) McMichen of Chattanooga, TN and Dale McMichen of Ringgold, GA; grandchildren, Stefanie (Zach) Walker, Megan Riggs, Victoria McMichen, Chandler (Jessica) McMichen and Jordan McMichen; great-grandchildren, Hailee, Rylee and baby Walker, Zaiden Kirkland, Marley McMichen, and Ellatrea McMichen; brother, Robert (Paula) Riggs; sister-in-law, Marcia Smith; brother-in-law, Marty (Joanie) Hale; several nieces and nephews in Tennessee; extended family members in Florida; and many extended family members including sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces in the Michigan area.

His wife, family and friends will miss his smile, his laughter, his generosity and his attempts to make everyone’s day happier. He would always say “maybe they are having a bad day and I want them to enjoy life.”

Visitation will be from 1 to 4 PM, followed by a 4 PM Memorial Service on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Daugherty officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or charity of the donor’s choice.

The family would like to thank all of the loyal customers of the Davis Barbershop for the years of support. Jesse enjoyed every customer and every haircut.
