Karen Gipson-Byrd, 66 of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2012 at her residence. A native of Winchester, TN, she has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the past 45 years and was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from Mountain Management and was the daughter of the late Louis and Anna Patton Roggli. She was also preceded in death by a son, Steven Gipson. Survivors include her husband, Don Byrd; son, Marty (Summer) Gipson, Sequatchie County, TN; daughter, Hollie Gipson, Rossville, GA; step-daughter, Deborah Myers, and a step-son, Chris Byrd, both of Chattanooga; sister, Joy Moore, Oak Ridge, TN; two brothers, Victor (Linda) Roggli, North Carolina and Rev. Alan (Gloria) Roggli, Tuscaloosa, AL; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Alan Roggli officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Sunday (EST) in the Watson-North Memorial Park in Winchester. In lieu of flowers, Karen requested that you purchase the book, “Heaven is For Real”, read it and pass it on.
