Marie Dell Orr

Marie Dell Orr, 77, of Chattanooga, TN, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 22, 2015 at her residence. Marie was born in Fort Payne, Alabama, but spent the majority of her adult life as a Chattanooga resident, where she raised her three beloved daughters alongside her husband of 55 years, Woodie McCain Orr. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She loved cooking gardening, sewing and fishing. She was a faithful member of the Temple Baptist Church and retired from Shaw Industries.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Woodie McCain Orr and by her brother, Russell Lane Scott. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Steve) Scott, Jo Ann (Chris) Prater, and Doris Kidwell; grandchildren Clarissa Sewell, Daphne (John) Allan, Kevin (Katie) Kidwell, Miranda (James) Barnes, Sidney and Thurman Sewell, Joshua (Tammy) Kidwell, and Jeremy Kidwell; great-grandchildren, Olivia Kidwell, Jazlynn Winnie,Anna and Audrey Kidwell; step-great-grandchildren, Isaac Plata, Isabel and Skylar Barnes; brothers, Richard and Danny Scott; sisters, Marion Evers, Linda Thomas, Frankie Pendergrass, Jennie Wall, Joyce Shook and Zoey Brown; and a number of aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the Valley View Chapel. Interment will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
