Marion B. “Buck” Banther, 93, of Harrison, TN, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. A lifelong resident of Harrison, he was the son of the late Jack and Jessie Lee Banther and was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. “Bea” Banther; son, Ralph Mannis and seven brothers, A.J., James, L.K., Doyle, Calvin, Bruce and Lonnie Banther. He attended the Lakeview Wesleyan Church and was a veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include two sons, Myron Banther, Rossville, GA and Johnny Johnson, Ooltewah; step-daughter, Geraldine Biddle, Rossville, GA; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; sister, Esther Hayes, Ooltewah; brother, Jackie Lee Banther, Henagar, AL; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Valley View Chapel with the Rev. James W. Neal officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
