Martha Byles Leonard

Martha was born and raised in Chattanooga. She was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church for over 45 years where she served as the church accompanist and was very active in the “Primetimers” where she was known as the “Energizer Bunny”. Her career as music educator began at Tyner High School and included many schools, and piano at home.

She lived such a full life, full of love and service; and there was no question that she loved her family, friends, her church, and her Lord and savior. She had such an adventurous spirit and she enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved cooking, playing the piano, and just spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ernie Leonard; parents, Ronald and Neal Byles; and brother, Dr. Charles Byles.

Surviving are her daughters Melanie (Joey) Gregory, Laura (Mark) Hydas, and Carole (Mike) Mirabella, son, Chris Leonard; grandchildren, John (Candice) Gregory, Jake (Nikki) Gregory, Cade Gregory, Hunter (Alex) Hydas, Zach (Christina) Hydas, Elijah Mirabella, Gabi (Nate) Crabtree and Hope Mirabella; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday at Silverdale Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Walliser officiating.

There will be a private burial following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Silverdale Baptist Church Mission Ministry.
