

He was the son of the late Ponder Lee Geren, Sr., and Alta Jane Gambrell Geren.
Ponder graduated from Ooltewah High School and was the owner and operator of the Countryside Café on Mahan Gap Road. In his early years he was an iron worker and had worked for the James Wilson Company and BHY Construction. He was a gifted artist and loved spending time out on the water.
He was a member of City Church in Chattanooga.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Geren, of Ooltewah, two sons, David Geren, of Collegedale, Daniel Geren (Alie), of Ooltewah, four grandchildren, Coy Ponder Geren, Isla Blake Geren, Peyton Wayne Geren, Ellie Tate Geren, two sisters, Jacqueline Yerbey (Billy), Gail Robinson (Phillip) both of Ooltewah, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at City Church, 7122 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
