He was the son of the late William A. Holcomb, Sr. and Montalee Evans Holcomb and was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Holcomb and several brothers and sisters.
He was a veteran of WW II having served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Holcomb retired after many faithful years of service as a federal government employee.
He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include his three daughters, Debbie Griffin, of Ooltewah, TN., Sheila (Rick) Purcell, of Buena Park, CA., Vickie (Ron) Smiley, of Klamath Falls, OR., nine grandchildren, Terah Chance, Tiffany Miller, Tanya Cutright, Jennifer Purcell Dodez, Lori Arche, Chris Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Dani Smiley, Sierra Smiley, eleven great grandchildren, sister, Opal Vawter, of Chattanooga, TN., brother, Jimmy Holcomb, of Chickamauga, GA., and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
